When you reach each evening's camp, staff have your bags waiting, beds made, fires lit and dinner prepared. Accommodation on the river is in spacious gers and tent-tipis, two anglers per tent.
Mongolia is reached via non-stop flights into Ulaanbaatar (UBN) from Seoul, Beijing, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Istanbul or Tokyo -- most guests connect via Seoul (3+ hours to Mongolia) or Istanbul (8+ hours). Most nationalities, including Australians, do not currently require a visa.
After an overnight in Ulaanbaatar, it's a scenic 4WD journey across the Mongolian steppe to reach the river, or an optional 60-90 minute charter flight direct to a landing zone near camp.
This river was the first in Mongolia to legally require catch-and-release, single-barbless-hook, fly-fishing-only for international anglers, and operates as a designated Taimen Sanctuary. Camps are temporary with no permanent infrastructure, cement or glass, and guests are moved between camps by non-motorized raft or drift boat once on the water.
